Day 1: Trips

We love our girls trips!  Several friends and I do all that we can to make time for girls trips.  Skiing is lots of fun.  Gambling trips are a must.  We enjoy fishing in the summer and, when not skiing, like to find warmth in the winter.

This summer we are trying something new, an international trip.  My friend turns 50 and wants to celebrate big, a week long birthday party.  Ireland is the chosen destination and I’m all for it.

My friends are planners.  They research and organize.  They consult and put things on spreadsheets.  They research some more and schedule conference calls.  They text in the middle of the work day sending links to book the flight (they all work in an office and sometimes from home).  In between my sessions at the countywide institute I was able to get my flight booked…phew…I won’t be flying alone.

We had our second conference call this morning.  We will be in Ireland for one week and need everything planned.  There is lots to see and we will make time for it all (ok a lot of it).  After 45 minutes of conferencing/researching/consulting, the car is rented, the 3 day rail trip is booked, and the 3 hotels/vrbo are ready for us to check-in…well they will be ready in June.

Our next conference call is scheduled for next Sunday.  I’m pretty sure we will be experts on Ireland before our feet even touch the soil.

  1. OMG! This is amazing! I want friends like that – the researching is the worst, so just booking the flights is amazing! I can’t wait to hear about this trip, this is a dream trip for me!! (I’m a little jealous!) 🙂

  2. So neat that you have a group of gals to do this with! I love how you took the time to reflect on your friendship with the girls and get excited planning it together. Sounds exciting!

  3. I love this! I think trips away are so good for the soul….and I need to remember this for myself more often. I am also happy that you have planners and hopefully just enjoy the ride! I went to Ireland MANY years ago. We went on a guided tour and loved it. All we needed to do was wake up and make sure we were on the bus on time. No decisions to make… was the best!
Enjoy the planning. Something to definitely look forward to.

    1. I agree…trips away are so good for the soul. We’ll have to compare notes when I return. Half of our trip is with a guide and the other half is us on our own. We’ll see how that goes:)

  4. We’ve talked girls trips before as I do the same but I love that you are taking it International this year! I also love hearing about the conference calls and spreadsheets!! Something extra fun to countdown to as we countdown for the end of school!
